Our Origin: The Wound That Became a Sanctuary

In 1986, Oprah Winfrey stood before the world and told them that one out of four women in the United States would experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Four decades later, in June 2026, she returned with a devastating update: today, that number has escalated to one out of two women who will experience sexual violence, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner.

That statistic did not land as abstract data. It landed as a confirmation of what I had witnessed with my own eyes—and lived in my own body. I was raised in a home fractured by violence. My mother, Wangu, survived. She came out alive. She rebuilt. But the scars of that survival shaped everything I would come to understand about what women endure—and what they are capable of overcoming.

When I entered the dating world, the violence I had witnessed as a child was not an aberration. It was a pattern I would come to know intimately. Like millions of women worldwide, I experienced assault—not once, but multiple times. The psychological and emotional harm inflicted by partners who were supposed to be protectors left me questioning the very foundation of the "happily ever after" narrative I, like every little girl, had been sold.

That dream—the singular dream of one prince charming, one happily ever after—is not just a cultural artifact. It is a scarcity narrative that has imprisoned women for generations. And when it collapses, as it does for millions of women, there is no roadmap for what comes next.

I decided to build one.

Our Philosophy: The Abundance Cosmology

I spent twelve years as a Patient-Researcher, documenting the psychological distress expressed by women on social media platforms. I conducted multiple large-scale netnographies:

• The first focused on ageing anxiety, uncovering the pervasive "Expiration-Date Myth" affecting millions of women worldwide.
• The second focused on relationship dissolution, documenting the collapse of the "happily ever after" dream and the rise of women declaring "I'm never marrying again."
• The third focused on the craving for community, confirming that people are starving for what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called the Beloved Community—a world where injustice ceases and love prevails.

What I discovered is that women are not broken. The narrative is broken.

The universe is coded in abundance—billions of galaxies, billions of stars, billions of trees, billions of dreams. The idea that there is only one path to fulfillment for women is not a truth of the universe. It is a poverty mindset imposed by a culture that benefits from women's scarcity.

Dawns of Love is built on a different cosmology: the belief that every woman carries a universe of loves within her—the love of self, the love of community, the love of art, the love of adventure, the love of purpose. When the singular dream dies, these loves are waiting to be discovered.

Our Ecosystem: Two Wings of a Single Sanctuary

Dawns of Love is part of Her Dawns—a mental wellness ecosystem for women addressing the two deepest fractures in their lives: the fear of time and the fear of love.

Together, they form a complete operating system for women's lives—a sanctuary where women can rewrite their dreams, their loves, and their entire sense of self.

Our Governance: Built for Mission Fidelity

I have spent thirty years serving vulnerable populations—first as a church youth leader in Nairobi, then as a volunteer at New Life Home Nairobi, a rescue centre for abandoned infants, and later as an elderly care worker in the UK. I have watched the charity sector fail the most vulnerable, diverting funds from beneficiaries to executive salaries and leafy suburb offices.

Dawns of Love and the broader Her Dawns ecosystem are built differently.

• 100% volunteer-run beneficiary operations—Undugu Bank (serving street-connected children in Nairobi), Rafiki Bank (serving isolated elderly in the UK), and Wangu Shelters (serving survivors of domestic violence).
• Zero administrative overhead—every subscription pound goes directly to serving the vulnerable, not to maintaining a bureaucratic class.
• Automated funding pipeline—a percentage of every subscription is automatically transferred to the beneficiary banks, with no human intervention, no opportunity for diversion.

I am not building a charity. I am building infrastructure that makes mission greed and mission corruption structurally impossible.

Our Founder: The Convergence of Scientist and Practitioner

My journey to this work is not theoretical. It is lived.

• Academic Foundation: A Foundation Year Diploma in Health from Keele University, awarded with First-Class Honours, securing places in both the Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy, with a clear trajectory toward a PhD in Public Health Research.
• Patient-Researcher: Twelve years of longitudinal, self-directed research conducted from the position of a patient-researcher, navigating diagnoses of severe PMDD, PTSD, and Schizoaffective disorder, and developing 7 sensory-somatic crisis protocols now documented in a 5-book series.
• Technical Sovereignty: A self-taught technologist who built a bare-metal Proxmox infrastructure from scratch, earning Microsoft Azure Cloud Certifications and securing a professional DevOps appointment with the UK Government's Department for Work and Pensions (DWP Digital).
• Current Research: An MRes Candidate in Person-Centred Practice at Queen Margaret University, researching women's readiness for digital mental health interventions that address ageing—and soon, abused women's mental health outcomes and their effect on physical health and longevity.

I am not looking for validation. I am looking for strategic peers who understand that the time for incremental change is over.
